The Otolaryngology Department of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital was established in 1999 and is one of the earliest clinical departments in our hospital. It integrates medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research, with advanced equipment, strong technical strength, and a complete range of disciplines. In 2021, it was ranked among the top 100 disciplines in the Chinese Hospital Influential Otolaryngology Department List.

The department has a professional team with rich clinical experience, high professional quality and skilled technology. At present, there are 54 medical staff, including 6 chief physicians, 4 deputy chief physicians, 2 post doctors, 3 with doctorates, 12 master's degrees, and 2 returned overseas students. All of them graduated from key medical schools at home and abroad, and more than 10 have overseas study experience. The department currently has 45 beds with an area of 1650 square meters, divided into three sub specialty groups: otology, rhinology, and throat and head surgery. It is equipped with high-end equipment such as ZEISS high-definition microscope, PHILIPS vestibular function instrument, American physician CO2 laser, STORZ high-definition nasal endoscopy system, and high-definition electronic laryngoscopy examination system.

The department's advantageous technologies include hearing and vertigo medicine, infant and toddler hearing screening and diagnosis, cochlear implantation and other auditory implants, ear microsurgery and endoscopic minimally invasive surgery, lateral skull base surgery, nasal endoscopic surgery, nasal eye nasal skull base surgery, allergy science, sleep medicine, voice surgery, throat minimally invasive surgery, comprehensive treatment of head and neck tumors, etc., reaching the advanced level in China.

The department's characteristic diagnosis and treatment services include auditory rehabilitation technology, functional diagnosis and treatment of head and neck tumors, vestibular rehabilitation training, voice training, and post tracheotomy discharge continuing care. It is the first to carry out specialized disease clinics in Shenzhen, including specialized disease clinics for hearing, dizziness, otitis media, otoendoscopy, head and neck tumors, sleep and respiratory disorders, etc; Promote the standardization and systematization of the treatment of internal auditory canal tumors and Fisch lateral skull base surgery in the Shenzhen area.

In the future, the department will further strengthen technical cooperation with well-known hospitals and universities at home and abroad, cultivate clinical technical talents, continuously improve clinical diagnosis and treatment levels, and strive to contribute to the creation of key specialties in Guangdong Province and the construction of the Greater Bay Area regional medical center.
